Frank Lloyd Wright's spiral rotunda, where guests look down on the party from the ramps, is one of the few museum rooms in New York that can take 1,000 people.
The Guggenheim on Fifth Avenue at 89th Street is Frank Lloyd Wright's spiral museum, opened in 1959. Events center on the Ronald O. Perelman Rotunda, a round floor under a glass skylight with the exhibition ramps curling up around it. Guests on the ramps look straight down on the room, which makes toasts and performances visible from every level.
The rotunda holds 1,000 for a reception or about 250 seated. Rentals can add the ramps, Cafe Rebay overlooking Central Park, The Wright restaurant for 65, the 273-seat Peter B. Lewis Theater and the 70-seat New Media Theater, so a program can run as a screening or talk followed by a reception in the rotunda.
