Photo: Salmagundi Club
A working artists' club on lower Fifth Avenue where a launch or reception can take over a skylit painting gallery and a formal parlor in the same brownstone.
The Salmagundi Club was founded by artists in 1871 and occupies a brownstone mansion on Fifth Avenue a few blocks north of Washington Square. The Skylight Gallery is a long, wood-floored room under a coffered glass ceiling with gallery lighting already rigged. Upstairs, the Parlor has columns, marble fireplaces and a piano, and the Smith Library dates to 1917.
The Skylight Gallery takes 150 standing or up to 100 seated, which makes it the main room for receptions and launches. The Parlor adds 75 standing, the Rockwell Gallery 85 and the pub-style Wiggins Bar 50, so a host can spread a program across floors or rent the whole club. Floor plans and CAD files are available from the club on request.

Gallery walls and lighting suit a design or art-led reveal.
