A landmarked Greco-Roman bank with a domed banking hall about 70 ft tall, one of the few rooms in downtown Manhattan that makes a single event feel monumental.
This is a landmarked 1924 savings bank in Chinatown, built in the Beaux-Arts style with a carved limestone facade, monumental arched windows and a dome you can see from the foot of the Manhattan Bridge. Inside, the old banking hall rises about 70 ft to an octagonal clerestory and a central oculus, with stone pilasters and molded ceilings all the way up.
The building reopened in 2026 as a contemporary arts space, so it already runs exhibitions, performances and a designer runway show. The main floor holds up to 450 guests and books as a full-day buyout. For smaller groups, the same building has a 4,000 sq ft seventh floor that books separately (see Chinatown Landmark Seventh Floor). A landmark with a 70 ft dome gives a brand an instantly recognizable stage.
