A working tavern in one of the oldest buildings in Lower Manhattan, with six bookable rooms that let a host scale from a 24-seat dinner to a 120-guest reception without leaving the address.
Fraunces Tavern sits on the corner of Pearl and Broad Streets, at the tavern where George Washington said farewell to his officers in 1783; the building was restored in the early 1900s. The restaurant fills the lower floors, and a museum about the Revolutionary era occupies the rooms above. Inside, the look is dark wood, brass, leather and oil paintings, with fireplaces in several rooms.
The largest space is the Bissell Room on the ground floor, which holds up to 120 guests, has its own bar and is anchored by a painted mural of New York in 1717. Smaller rooms cover the rest of the range: the Washington Room seats 24 at one long table, the upstairs Piano Bar takes 75, and Lafayette's Hideout Bar takes 85 with its own doors on Water Street. The house kitchen and bar handle all food and drink, with party menus from passed bites to plated dinners and open bar packages.
